Nozhikov

2017 · 5 MIN SHORT FILM

Nozhikov (which roughly translates as Mr. Knives) moves between two rooms. In one, under the fluorescent glare of a late-night shawarma counter, men with Central Asian faces order, prepare, and eat. In the other, an art gallery crowd wrestles with a single question: what might have become of Russia had there been no revolution in 1917. The film cuts between the two, allowing them to answer each other, with the shawarma knife serving as its central metaphor.
